Sizemore says county growth should be ‘responsible’

A CORDIAL CAMPAIGN: Jim Sizemore, speaking Thursday at the Greater Goldendale Chamber of Commerce business lunch forum, emphasized he is “not running against” anyone.

Jim Sizemore introduced himself again to a town that already knows him fairly well, in his talk to the Greater Goldendale Chamber of Commerce business lunch forum Thursday at Ayutla’s Restaurant. Sizemore is running for Klickitat County Commissioner District 3; his opponent in the race, Joe Sellers, speaks tomorrow at the next Chamber business lunch forum.

Sizemore began with a summary of his background. “I am a rancher,” he began. “I have been married 37 years. We have a daughter who is a teacher in Wilson Creek. So let me get this straight.... Mr. Sizemore supports taxpayer subsidized wind energy that is sold to California and wants regulatory restrictions on how a person develops their land. He must think that a wind farm next to your property doesn’t affect the value, but a retired guy on 20 acres is harmful. And why is an out of state “green energy” developer less self-interested or does less damage to the landscape than the guy who wants to retire in the county?
