Long-time area educator dies in car accident

 


A long-time resident of Centerville died from injuries sustained in a one car accident south of Centerville. According to the Klickitat County Sheriff’s office, Marilyn Sarsfield, 78, was eastbound on Stringstreet Road, east of the intersection of Cameron Road on Oct. 11, when her vehicle left the roadway and collided with large rocks. The vehicle caught fire which spread to nearby wheat stubble.

Sarsfield taught at Wishram, Goldendale and Centerville schools from 1956 through 1972. She continued to work at the Centerville School as a substitute teacher and was in charge of the school garden. She returned to teach kindergarten from 1982 until her retirement in 1998.
