Wolves stumble at Naches, turn runaway win into loss

EASY HALF: Kyle Wilkins trots through a huge hole in the Ranger line for a 1-yard touchdown run making the score 12-0.

It was clear from the opening kickoff that Naches Valley believed they would have to resort to unusual plays in order to beat Goldendale. The Rangers ran a reverse on the opening kickoff, but the Timberwolves stayed in their lanes and Tim Bartkowski made the tackle at the Ranger 24 yard line.

Start and stop, non-huddle play calling didn’t phase the Wolves, either, but a fake punt on the opening drive was good for 25 yards. It was the only success for the Rangers in the first half and Naches Valley had nothing on the score board to show for it.

Goldendale seemed to be in control of the game, scoring on their second drive, five running plays for 45 yards, finished off with an Isaac Messen...
