25 Years Ago – October 15, 1987

• Following a three months restructuring of operations, officials at Columbia Aluminum Corp. say they are optimistic their plant is now on sure footing in the aluminum market. Craig Anderson, Columbia Officer, said the plant will “have a solid place in the aluminum market for the next 10 to 20 years.” In the restructuring, Columbia officials have eliminated several positions. “An operation 14 people used to do is now done by 5.”

50 years Ago – November 1, 1962

• The toll station for the new Samuel Hill Bridge stands at the north end of the bridge approach, in the shadow of the basalt cliffs that line the rivers north bank. The present Spoka...
