Klickitat exits State volleyball tournament short of trophy round

A slow start in the opening game of the State 1B tournament seemed to set the tone for Klickitat as they lost in three straight games to Shoreline Christian on Friday.

The Crusaders took advantage of the Vandals with five straight points to start the game and were never seriously challenged through the first two games, 25-14, 25-16. The Vandals shook off the jitters and opened up a 9-3 lead in the third game. They were still ahead 12-8 when the Vandals gave up serve and watched Shoreline Christian reel off six straight points for a lead they would not relinquish. Klickitat made a late run, but the final score was 25-21.

There was a noticeable renewal of energy in the Vandals as they warme...
