SAR volunteers given special recognition

PROUD FACES: Special recognition was awarded to Search and Rescue volunteers at their awards dinner last week.

The Klickitat Search and Rescue (SAR) honored their volunteers at their annual SAR Volunteer Appreciation Night Banquet on Jan. 8 at the PUD.

“I want to say job well done to all our volunteers,” said Jeff King, SAR Coordinator. “We went above and beyond this year with our missions and with hosting the state’s yearly SAR conference.”

SAR currently is comprised of 49 current members who volunteer their time and resources to provide search and rescue services and support local law enforcement agencies. Of the 49 members, 16 members are also Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) members. Last year, the SAR volunteers gave 6,288 hours of their time to train, organize for the confe...
