Cougars beat back Pirates for second place in Gorge

Lyle-Wishram’s boys were back on track last weekend after a disappointing loss at Sunnyside Christian on Jan. 12. The Cougars came out strong against Bickleton at Lyle, taking a seven point first quarter lead on the way to a 62-47 win on Friday. It wasn’t a particularly sharp shooting night for either club, but the Cougars had 11 more chances and made the most of it hitting 18-45 while the Pirates were only good on 25 of their shots in the game.

Darnell Luke led the Cougars from the outside with 4-6 shooting while Gabe Montoya and Jonathan Von Ahn got the work done inside with 12 and 10 points respectively. Luke led the team with four steals and Montoya had the double-double with 13 r...
