Corps considering closure of Philippi Park, web conference set to get public input

 


The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a web-based public meeting Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed temporary closure of Philippi Park, located near John Day Dam. Increased costs and budget cuts have made the status of the park uncertain and the Corps is asking members of the public for ideas that could keep the park open. Albert Philippi Park is located on the John Day River about three miles southeast of John Day Lock and Dam.

This is the first online public meeting the Portland District has scheduled. The meeting will begin with an introduction, followed by a short video describing the park and the proposed temporary closure. Afterward members of the John Day and Portl...
