Goldendale schools on soft lock-down

The Goldendale Middle and Primary schools were on soft-lock for much of today (Thursday), as school officials and police dealt with a domestic squabble that threatened to spill over to the schools.

Goldendale School Superintendent Mark Heid said he could provide only cursory detail at this time. The initial information suggests a man whose ex-wife has a child at the school became upset and made vague comments that caused enough concern to effect the soft lock-downs.

A soft, or partial, lock-down means that no one outside the school buildings is allowed to enter, but otherwise classes continue as usual inside the building.

"The lock-down was lifted at 2:20 p.m. Thursday," Heid said. "There was no impact noticeable at all in any classroom."
