New ‘factory’ sets up shop in Goldendale

“Why not cupcakes?” said Sheila Howard, one of the new co-owners of Goldendale’s Sunshine Gardens and Cupcake Factory.

Why not, indeed?

Howard, along with her partner, Patty Best, have been busy inside the long-time floral shop and former Karmel Kountry shop on West Broadway in Goldendale since late January this year, creating a space that not only holds onto Goldendale traditions, but speaks to their own interests and passions, creating new Goldendale traditions.

The former Centerville School colleagues, who Howard describes as “deeply rooted, raising families, with husbands working in local industry,” purchased the popular Sunshine Garden and Karmel Kountry from long-time owne...
