Rollover accident at Maryhill grade

This car rolled over this afternoon near the top of the Maryhill grade in Goldendale.

A Goldendale resident was injured this afternoon in a rollover accident near the top of the Maryhill grade.

Purley K. Head was driving a 1996 Mercury Sable southbound on Rt. 97 when her car left the roadway on the west side, struck the rock hillside, and then landed on its roof, coming to rest on the southbound shoulder.

The car was totaled. Head was taken by Klickitat Valley Health ambulance to Klickitat Valley Health hospital, and a life flight was ordered for her. There is no new report at present on her condition or what caused her vehicle to leave the roadway.

Crash Victim Update

The Washington State Patrol at 9:57 a.m. Friday issued a statement indicating that Purley K. Head of Goldendale, victim of a rollover accident on the Maryhill grade yesterday afternoon, is deceased.

Head's Mercury Sable left the roadway southbound on Highway 97 at about 1 p.m ., near milepost 6. Her car struck rocks on the hillside, flipped over onto its top, and came to rest on the southbound shoulder.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
