Vehicles' broken windows a mystery

A Real Head-Scratcher: Two vehicles sustained broken windows last Friday in the parking lot across from the court house. There were no witnesses and there is no apparent cause.

It is a case for the Goldendale “CSI” unit, which in Goldendale is the same as the regular police unit. The windows of two vehicles shattered in the middle of the day in a well-populated area of downtown Goldendale, yet nobody saw or heard a thing.

Officer Mike Smith, of the Goldendale Police responded to a call about two damaged vehicles in the parking lot on East Court Street, across the street from the Klickitat County Courthouse. It was around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

According to Smith’s report, two people who work at the Courthouse returned from lunch around 1 p.m. and parked their vehicles side-by-side. One was a Mercury Mountaineer and the other a Ford Explorer. About 15...
