DNR warns of fire danger due to warm, dry spell

 


The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Southeast Region Klickitat District and the Fire Districts in Klickitat County are urging people to use caution this fire season. The recent warm weather has dried the finer fuels in the lower elevations creating a hazardous situation.

Help is needed avoid large fires that damage natural resources, homes, property and lives.

DNR offers the following tips for fire safety:

• Trim & prune trees away from roofs.

• Store flammable liquids away from homes.

• Remove pine needles from roofs and gutters.

• Maintain a minimum 30 foot fire break around the structure.
