Wanderscheid on the hunt for a second title

 


Bree Wanderscheid took another step closer toward defending her State 1A golf title by running away with the district tournament in Cle Elum for an 18 stroke win. Wanderscheid began her day with a 33 on the back nine and followed with a 37 on the front for a 2-under par 70. Bailey Wangler, of La Salle was second with an 88. With only three girls advancing to State, Wanderscheid was the only Goldendale golfer to advance.

The other Goldendale girls had solid rounds, consistent with their recent performances, but not good enough to make the cut. Sawyer Ross, who competed at State last year, was seventh with a 96, just ahead of Natalie Hurst who was eighth at 100. Leah Lewis shot a 119. The...
