Vandals battle champs from Colton, exit tournament 0-2

 


The first day of the class 1B State softball tournament was rained out in Yakima, giving Klickitat’s Vandals another day to prepare for their opening round game against defending State champion Colton. The Vandals were competitive when play got going on day two, even holding a brief lead following a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately, the runs, scored by Keandra Kessinger and Lara Parsons were the only runs of the game for the Vandals. Colton tied the game in the second inning and scored the go-ahead runs in the fifth inning plus insurance runs in the sixth.

The Wildcats won the game 9-2, on their way to another State title. Chelci Curtis held Colton to five hit...
