Balloon guess is Bowers' ticket to American Legion restored pick-up

NEW WHEELS: Becky Bowers was behind the wheel of her new, 1950 Dodge pick-up. Bowers was unable to attend last week’s drawing at the American Legion in Goldendale, but picked up her new truck from Gary Baker. Baker, above left restored the pick-up and donated it to the American Legion cause. On hand for the presentation was Vice Commander, Reggie Stevens, at right.

Becky Bowers is the lucky winner of the American Legion pick-up raffle. Bowers, of Goldendale was truly lucky as she had just three chances in the drawing, and two of those were tickets she won, including the winning ticket.

The pick-up was donated to the cause by Gary Baker, a member of the Louis Leidl Post 116 of the American Legion. It was an odd twist of fate that put the pick-up, a 1950 Dodge, into the hands of Baker. He says he knew of the pick-up when he was a kid growing up near Fossil. It didn’t mean much to him at the time, as it was a newish, farm pick-up…nothing special.
