Changes announced for students at GHS

 


Welcome back to another exciting school year at Goldendale High School. I am excited for the start of what I believe will be another great year at GHS. For the second consecutive year GHS was chosen as a “Bronze Award” school in Washington State from national magazine “US News and World Reports” and also awarded a “High Progress Reward School” from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction of Washington State. Congratulations to our students, teachers, classified/Para educators, parents and community. Without all of your support, none of this would be possible.

It is really sad that we are still in the mindset that a female has to cover her body to prevent sexual harassment. Every single one of the notifications on this list for the high school students are geared and aimed towards the female population. I do not see anything on here regarding the male population, why is this? Are we still teaching females to shame their bodies to prevent possible rape or sexual misconduct? Why can we not teach the males to keep their hands off, mouths shut, and opinions quiet? It's incredibly wrong to shame a female into covering and disliking her body because a male cannot control his behaviors. Let's teach the female students empowerment and not shame.
