Carrier retires after 35 years

Carrying mail for 35 years: Goldendale Postmaster Jim Hamilton presents Sharon Gangwish a plaque in recognition of her years of mail delivery service.

After 35 years of working at the U.S. Post Office in Goldendale as a rural mail carrier, Sharon Gangwish is retiring.

“It’s an interesting job, and it’s been good over the years,” says Gangwish. Over those years she’s discovered and helped fight a fire, spotted a stolen truck, and even helped out with a few of her customers four-legged friends.

Once while doing her route, Gangwish noticed that a customer’s corral was on fire. She acted quickly, informing the customer and then helping fight the fire until fire trucks arrived.
