New union president says more candidates can seek endorsement

 


Apparently the process of becoming president of the union representing county police officers takes its time. Deputy Robert Bianchi of the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office was elected to that post in June, and more than a month later he was still president-elect of the AFSME-AFL-CIO Local 1533DC. The union also represents corrections officers, control board officers, the sheriff’s office clerical staff, and dispatchers.

“I’ve sort of been on the job and trying to coordinate with the outgoing president, who is now the new treasurer,” Bianchi says. That outgoing president/new treasurer is Sergeant Joe Riggers.
