Goldendale citizen encounters reactions to mall attack in Nairobi

Monroe returned to Nairobi soon after terrorists attacked the Westgate Mall there and reported on reactions from residents.

Jim Monroe and Sue Owen are individual volunteers with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church and are Goldendalians by virtue of property they own in the Highland Park development. “Our plan is to retire yet once again and build on our lot in about 2015,” Monroe says. “We are both retired United Methodist pastors from the Oregon area and decided that our first few years of retirement should be spent giving back.” The couple serve as mission coordinators at Maua Methodist Hospital in the city of Maua, Kenya.
