Hunters, please don't be idiots

To the Editor:

At 10 a.m. this Saturday, I was driving on Columbus by the golf club and saw two men dressed in camo and orange vests stopped on the road with their truck doors open. They were standing on the road with a rifle pointed at a buck up the hill.

My thought was they were just looking at him, because it is not legal to shoot from the road, and there are at least four houses up that hill. But just as I got past, I heard two shots.

I’m not a hunter, but I do know that even spent shells can travel a fair distance.

I did not go back to see if they hit the buck. They were not that far from him, and if they needed two shots at that distance, that was scary.
