Brewery announces summer concert series

The Bettyslope Brewery, Klickitat County’s renowned spirits destination, has announced its hotly anticipated summer concert lineup for 2014:

• Barry Cantaloupe, June 18. This legendary singer/ songwriter makes his first Bettyslope appearance. Cantaloupe’s career skyrocketed in the 1970s with his hit song “Sandy,” followed by “Can’t File Without You,” “Copabanana,” “I Right the Wrongs,” and “Looks Like We Faded.”

• Lady BlahBlah, July 8. They said there was no way Bettyslope could get this superstar, but they did. Lady BlahBlah is a musical iconoclast and an industry of her own, a cultural landmark. Word is she also sings.

• Rusty Rutabaga and the Pardoned Parsnips, Aug. 14. This fast-rising group has been called “the hottest of all Canadian reggae bands” by the Toronto Bird Cage Bottom. Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the last few years knows that Canadian reggae is totally burning up the charts, and at the top is this band.

• Irving Fitzsimmons, Sept. 9. Fitzsimmons was the 23rd runner-up on American Idol a few years ago, and he’s smartly parlayed that milestone into a blazing career. His last album—well, his only album—went aluminum in only three years.
