Netters drop pair of league matches with juggled lineup

 


Wins were hard to achieve during the past week for Goldendale’s tennis team as a 2-2 tie for the boys against Cle Elum-Roslyn was the closest they came to a win.

The team traveled to Highland early last week with some juggling in the line-up. The boys lost 5-0 and the girls lost 3-0. The girls’ matches included tough losses for the singles and number one doubles team. Hannah Hoffman went down in three sets to Brenda Castellanos in a toss-up match. Hoffman won the opener 6-4 and lost the final set 6-4. In between, Castellanos pulled out a 7-6 win on a 7-3 tie-breaker.

The pair of Nicole Latimer and Faith Simmons lost an even closer tie-breaker, 11-9 to give the first set to Rosa Moren...
