Goldendale hosts Kenyan visitor via Soroptimist Grant of Friendship

After experiencing a warm "welcome to Goldendale" meet and greet, a stellar sightseeing on The Dalles Mountain road, a Native American pow-wow, Maryhill Museum, a Greek monastery tour - where women must wear a skirt, spring snow in Odell and more, Rufina Achieng entered Adar Israel's Ponderosa Park yurt with exuberance and strong hugs for everyone in sight. Achieng is traveling throughout the northwest as part of the Soroptimist Grant of Friendship program. She is scheduled to visit various Soroptimist clubs, culminating with a regional meeting in Portland where she will be reunited with Paula Montour, Barbara Robinson and Goldendale club president, Sandra Choate.
