Hoctor alternate to District with 3-2 record at Sunnyside

DISTRICT ALTERNATE: Ethan Hoctor made a strong run for Goldendale in singles competition. Hoctor was 3-2 at the sub-district tournament and is the alternate for the District tournament, which starts this Friday.

About half way into the tennis season, Coach Channon Bighorn decided to make a change in his line-up. According to Bighorn, a lot of teams were taking their top singles players and putting them into doubles. Bighorn saw an opportunity to give his most experienced players a chance to take advantage of the situation and he split his number one doubles team of Ethan Hoctor and Brandon Cline, making them singles players.

Prior to the switch in a match against Ki-Be at Granger, Hoctor and Cline were 2-3 against league opponents. As singles players, Hoctor was 2-2 and Cline was 2-3 in league matches. On Monday, Hoctor nearly made his way into the District tournament after going 3-2 at sub-distr...
