The head of Klickitat County Search and Rescue volunteers has an additional job with the county's Department of Emergency Management (DEM), working with director Ed Powell to plan ahead for any number of calamities that might hit the area on a broad scale. They're called MCI or MFI, innocuous seeming acronyms that stand for Mass Casualty Incident or Mass Fatality Incident. And surprisingly, what constitutes "mass" is a very small number in Klickitat County.
