50 Years Ago - July 23, 1964

• The KCHS gathered at Roosevelt for their annual summer meeting. The luncheon was served at the “old” Roosevelt school house. The afternoon program was presented by Dorothy Clark. It was a taped interview with the late Jesse Wherry, on early days, in which he told that the first wheat ever to be shipped over the S. P. &. S. Railway came from the area around Roosevelt. In speaking of the taped recordings, Bessie Hornibrook said, “it sounded just like the lovely old character, cuss words and all.”

75 Years Ago - July 20, 1939

• A car owned by Mrs. Edna Burleson, Pine Forest teacher, was badly damaged last week when it rolled over the Klickitat...
