Letter controversy stirs response and inquiry

 


A single letter to the editor in last week’s Sentinel prompted inquiries from readers and responses from public officials.

A letter last week implied that the prosecuting attorney’s office farmed out a legal inquiry about the sheriff’s office range and timber deputy program to a law firm rather than dealing with it in house. It also took a backhanded swipe at both the sheriff and the current undersheriff, painting them with the same brush of possible collusion and deception.

The matter is of key interest in this year’s election for the office of sheriff, with Undersheriff Marc Boardman running against former range and timber deputy Bob Songer.
