Fun in the sun! Klickitat Canyon Days this weekend

Racing for the prize: Hundreds of little rubber ducks will be released Sunday to float into the town of Klickitat. The annual Ducky Derby will finish off the town's annual Canyon Days celebration.

Klickitat Canyon Days is this weekend in the river town of Klickitat. The fun and family focused events kick off on Friday with a kids' carnival at the school from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fun, food and dance will be downtown from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the annual free movie in the parking lot of the school will start at dusk.

Saturday starts with a 5k fun run or walk, registration at 7:30 a.m. Three on three basketball starts at the gym at 10 a.m., as do downtown activities with vendors and food in the park. The parade starts at 11 a.m. followed by music in the park. Saturday night has music from the band Negative Static at Huntington's Bar and Grill starting at 9 p.m.

Canyon Days come to an end on Sunday with co-ed volleyball at 10 a.m. and the fun filled Ducky Derby at noon. Rubber ducks can be purchased and released as a group from upstream of Klickitat. Prizes are awarded to the first ducks to make it to town and there will also be prizes for best attire and floating device.
