Lyle News

New siding is being installed on the Columbia Grange and it’s looking sharp. The members are holding a rummage sale on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you would like to set up your own space and sell - great! Juliet will be available to meet you at the Grange Friday evening so that you can load your items inside, where they will be locked up the night before the sale.  If you decide to bring them the day of the sale, please have them clean and already priced. The Grange members ask that you consider donating a little something to the Grange to sell or a small cash contribution; however, a donation is not obligatory. All proceeds from the sale of items from the Grange space will go toward their 125th Anniversary Celebration and those much needed building repairs. Contact Juliet at columbiagrange87@gmail.com or (541) 645-0124.

Lyle Community Council will have two prominent citizens vying for the spotlight at its next 7 p.m. meeting on Monday, July 28. Rob Kimmes from the Emergency Services will be on hand to update us on hospital and EMT emergencies as well as Dave Brown, a candidate seeking a District Judge position. This is a good time to get your questions answered concerning either of these topics and get to know who you may be facing across a courtroom some day. Also Chairman Darla Brashers became a board member, representing Lyle, at the last Tourism Council meeting held in Goldendale. If you have anything to offer pertinent to bringing tourism dollars to our community, you might want to attend the council meeting.

Volunteers of KLASAC (Klickitat-Lyle Against Substance Abuse Coalition) have started a Tuesday afternoon summer program. Tuesday, the youths will volunteer at the Lion’s Club luncheon followed by an afternoon of field games and water balloon play at the Lyle Activity Center. Thanks to Julie and Johanna for chaperoning this event! Questions? (509) 840-3330

The Klickitat PTO and Canyon Days are working together on another free movie night for this Friday, July 25, at the Klickitat School blacktop area. They are giving away free snow-cones and popcorn for the movie and would like to invite Lyle families and friends for a fun evening. The movie that will be shown is “Rio 2.” That same night, the Klickitat Ladies Auxiliary is having a kids carnival at the school from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (there is a cost for carnival tickets).
