Public hearing by DNR on proposed changes in land trust designation

 


The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will conduct a public hearing on Aug. 6 to provide information and receive comments on the proposed Klickitat Canyon Inter-Trust Exchange. This exchange of trust designations between parcels of DNR-managed land would make possible a future transfer of about 819 acres into the DNR-managed Klickitat Canyon Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA). The acreage added to Klickitat Canyon NRCA would be used for recreation, open space, or wildlife habitat purposes.

The hearing will be held at the Klickitat PUD meeting room at 1313 S. Columbus Ave., in Goldendale starting at 6:30 p.m. DNR will also accept written comments about this exchange, which must be received no later than 5 p.m., Aug. 22. The following parcels would change from Scientific Trust to Common School Trust: portion of Section 1, T6N, R12EW, W.M. and a portion of Section 6, T6N, R13E, W.M., Klickitat County, Washington.

The following parcel would change from Common School Trust to Scientific Trust: portion of Section 27, T7N, R12E, W.M., Yakima County, Washington.

Portions of the following parcels would transfer into the DNR-managed Klickitat Canyon Natural Resources Conservation Area: portion of S.1, T6N, R12E; portion of Section 6, T6N, R13E; Klickitat County, Washington, and a portion of Section 36, T7N, R12E, Yakima County.
