Locals perform well at National rodeo

GOOD RIDE: Tanner Bradley, of Goldendale rides a bull at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wy. The event ran from July 13 through July 19.

Tanner Bradley placed 18th overall in bull riding and David Gunkel was fourth in light rifle marksmanship at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wy. R.J. Hicks, of Husum also competed, but did not place.

Bradley stood in 11th place after the first day of competition and slipped to 18th after two more days of competition, keeping out of the finals.

Gunkel was third in prone and standing positions, but had misses in kneeling and finished 16 points behind the overall winner, Cooper Champneys, of Idaho.

Bradley and Gunkel are from Goldendale.
