50 Years Ago - August 13, 1964

• Mr. and Mrs. Leland Huot had a Sunday dinner with guests at their railroad car home at Lyle. Huot is in Lyle with his S. P. & S. Railway crane for the job of replacing the last of four original spans across the Klickitat River with modern steel bridges. The Huots came to Lyle from a job at Maupin, Ore., on the Oregon Trunk Line.

75 Years Ago - August 20, 1939

• Klickitat County Engineer, August Hanson, was working with his surveying crew north of Goldendale slashing brush when he accidentally disturbed a yellow jacket nest. As they swarmed up at him, Hanson threw his right arm up to protect his face and jerked his wrist against the sharp blade of...
