Friday’s football game at Lyle was a rugged, physical battle, the way football was intended to be, but there were times the exuberance went a bit too far. There were helmets popping throughout the game and three penalties called for helmets to the head.

In this day and age with good evidence of short and long term health issues from this kind of contact, I would like to see a lot less of it at any level. I think we all enjoy the entertainment of a game and appreciate the work and talent of our kids in providing that entertainment. I’m also pretty sure we don’t want to see anyone hurt in the process.
