Tensions high at council meeting

MAKING THE CASE: Richard Ellis, who wants to open Goldendale's first retail marijuana store, addresses the city council meeting Monday night.

Emotions were boiling just under the surface at Monday night's City Council meeting, where discussion of a proposed marijuana store retained center stage.

First on the agenda were presentations by Richard Ellis and Wena Coffman, would-be proprietors of the proposed outlet. Ellis spoke first, addressing a wide range of complaints he had against the council and the local press, including accusations of bias and misrepresentation of facts, including by The Sentinel. "When we have to start testifying in court you might want to think about some things, because you have to start telling the truth," he said.
