First win a bizarre 4-3 OT victory over Granger

Goldendale won their first soccer match of the year 4-3 over Granger in bizarre fashion, Saturday. After a spirited 80 minutes of play, the teams were tied at 3-3. Rules call for a 5-minute overtime period, but the Granger coach said she wanted to end the game as a 3-3 tie. Her reason, according to Goldendale Coach Rick Johnson, was "momentum."

There was no swaying the Granger coach from walking off the field with her team. The officials put the ball in play and Tayler Wells dribbled downfield and punched in the game winning goal into an open net.

The match itself was very evenly played with Granger taking a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. Cheyenne Smith got Goldendale on the board 12 m...
