Runners peaking in final race before District

PERSONAL BEST: Nadia Smith, of Goldendale ran her best 5k race at Zillah last week.

Goldendale runners seem to be peaking at the right time as seven of their eight boys and all four girls set personal records at the cross country meet at Zillah, last week. Nadia Smith placed ninth on the 5k course with a time of 23:43. Emily Hurst ran a 25:01.59 with Valentina Weiland crossing in 27:44.8 and Julia Foster running a 30:40.3. The girls will compete in the District meet, this Thursday at the Apple Ridge course in Cowiche.

The boys' race was another battle among Goldendale and Bickleton runners, although they weren't competing against each other since it was a league meet. Zillah won boys and girls team competition and Alex Ochoa ran away with the race in 16:58.1.
