Gallery finds new home and new name

MIXED MEDIA: The Big River Art and Crafts gallery (formerly Golden Art Gallery) has a new home near the north entrance to Goldendale offf SR97. An open house is scheduled for Nov. 20.

The art gallery is dead. Long live the art gallery.

The Golden Art Gallery, late of Columbus Avenue and before that of Main Street, now resides in a space next to Sodbuster's Restaurant on Broadway. Well, actually, the shop formerly known as the Golden Art Gallery is there. Now it's called Big River Art and Crafts.

"It was sometime in September we decided-I'm not going to say we're failing, but things were not what we needed," recalls Jim Walter of the facility. "So we needed to do something."

So into what used to be a meat store they went. With the coolers out, Walter says it's a lot more space. The new space opened Nov. 1. It came with a new name.
