Mayor gives detail on what he calls trail of city council hypocrisy

MIGHT HAVE BEEN: Where Darland and Railroad Avenue converge is home to Goldendale City-owned buildings. One of them was under active consideration about a year ago to house a marijuana grow operation.

Goldendale Mayor Clinton Baze says the Goldendale city council is trying to convict him in a court of public opinion of "crimes" the council itself committed.

At the city council meeting on Dec. 1, the council voted four to three to pass a resolution of no confidence in the mayor. The stated reason was the mayor's failure to prevent a marijuana retail store from opening in Goldendale.

Baze contends last week's vote is hypocrisy because the council itself was ready to allow a marijuana business to open in the city almost a year ago.
