Ricky Watts

 


Rick L. Watts was born in Arizona and the family moved to Oregon when he was younger. Having spent most of his life in Oregon, he moved to Washington, and died there Dec. 13, 2014, after battling cancer for four years.

He graduated from Gaston High School and went on to Clatsop and Portland community colleges for several years. He spent most of his work life as a heavy equipment operator and had his own construction company for a time. His hobbies included garage sales, reading, tinkering on cars and he was an excellent poet. He was in the Army and spent lengths of time in Viet Nam and Germany.

He is survived by four children, Brandon of Oregon, Crystal of Florida, Jesse of Nevada and Sara of Oregon. There are also six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Don, of Oregon, and a sister, Rita, of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Rick’s ashes will be spread at a park outside of Yamhill on Jan. 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. A BBQ will follow at 1 p.m. at the McMinnville Veterans Club to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund, in his name.
