County teams clash at Helix


Klickitat won a non-league game over the Bickleton boys, 47-40 at the Helix holiday tournament. The Pirates were led by Nathan Powers’ 12 points; Vandal details were unavailable.

Bickleton’s girls avenged an earlier loss to Helix in Bickleton, behind Lindsay Brown’s 13 points and 11 rebounds for a 42-35 win. On day two of the tournament, Kira Harvey poured in 16 to lead the Lady Pirates over Walla Walla Academy 55-43. Hannah Pond was in double figures both days with 10 against Helix and 13 versus Walla Walla.

Colt Hansen went off with 18 points to lead the Pirates in a 48-30 win over Helix, for a season sweep of the Grizzlies.

Klickitat girls had big games from Bailee Green, Mackenzie Tuthill and Tina Lambert during the tournament, but it wasn’t enough to win. Green had 16 points against Walla Walla and 17 points plus 12 steals versus Helix. Tuthill had 12 points versus Walla Walla and 14 against Helix. Lambert used four three-point shots to score a dozen against Helix. Walla Walla won 49-34 and Helix won 58-42.
