Wilkins, Cully District champs

THE CHAMP: Bryce Wilkins (on top) and Zillah's Brady Lorton had a battle full of reversals until Wilkins ended it with a third round pin for the 170 pound crown.

Goldendale will send eight wrestlers to compete at Ki-Be High School, this Saturday for the right to advance to the Mat Classic State wrestling tournament in Tacoma. Leading the Timberwolf contingent are Saturday's District champions Kyle Wilkins and Zane Cully.

Wilkins took on Zillah's Brady Lorton at 170 pounds in the finals, Saturday. Wilkins started on the bottom for round two and the match heated up with a series of reversals. It was more of the same in round three with Lorton quickly tying the match with another reversal. But Wilkins scored on his third reversal of the match and took Lorton's shoulders to the mat for a pin 48 seconds into the final round.
