FIGHT AGAINST CANCER: Showing their colors, a large group participated in last year's Relay for Life march around the Goldendale track. Teams made laps all night long, raising money for the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is a community event that is held each year in more than 20 countries around the world. At each of these events individuals come together to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against cancer.

Last September 364 registered individuals and many other community members attended the Relay For Life of Klickitat County. These participants tirelessly walked the Goldendale High School track at the overnight event in an effort to fund a cure for cancer. Over the last two years the local Event has raised a little over $53,000 which goes to the American Cancer Society for cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services.

On Thursday, March 5, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Klickitat County will officially begin their third year in their fight against cancer. Relay team members and organizers will gather at the PUD meeting room for the 2015 kickoff event that begins at 5:30 p.m. Community members interested in learning more about Relay For Life are invited and encouraged to attend the informative fun filled meeting, complete with food, games, speakers, and more.

"Carnival for a Cure" is the theme for the 2015 Relay For Life of Klickitat County which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Goldendale High School track.
