Musician's treasured songbook lost 45 years ago sought by family

LIVE AT THE OASIS: Dale Brown was a regular at the now-extinct Oasis and Evergeen in Goldendale. Now his family is looking for a lost momento of his life and career.

Whenever my dad was around, my sister used to ask him to leave us a penny (why not a $100 bill, I asked). Over the years he left us many, many pennies. After he died, we bought a John Deere tractor, and as we were leaving Home Depot, the sliding doors jammed-and we discovered a shiny penny blocking the doorway. Dad and I had always dreamed and talked about having a John Deere!

My father, Dale V. Brown, was a musician from The Dalles. He played The Oasis and Evergreen here in Goldendale as well as all over the country. He was an excellent guitar player, sitting in with many of the local musicians in the area, including the ever-so-fabulous Teddy Wilds; Neil Rogerson; and famous musicians...
