Low flow of central county streams cause for concern among fish managers

Irrigators who elect to forgo irrigation this year are encouraged to contact the Klickitat Department of Natural Resources (KDNR) at 773-2410. Jacob Anderson, salmon recovery fund coordinator with the KDNR says that unused irrigation rights can be banked and the department wants to be able to document the savings. They are particularly interested in water saved within Water Resources Inventory Area 31.

Anderson, who monitors flow in the small streams in the county, says they are particularly concerned about flow in the Little Klickitat River, Rock Creek and Swale Creek this year. The Little Klickitat is running at less than 40 percent of historic average for t...
