Driver falls asleep, three sent to hospital

 


The oft-damaged guard rail north of Goldendale on Highway 97 was the site of a single car accident that sent three people to the hospital, Sunday morning. The accident occurred near milepost 15 in the bend near Hanging Rock Road around 7:40 a.m. According to the State Patrol report, Alexa Floria Gilbertson, 49, of West Linn, Ore., fell asleep at the wheel of a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup while heading north. The vehicle left the road to the west, waking the driver who over-corrected and sent the truck back across the highway and into the guardrail.
