Virginia man dies on rafting trip down White Salmon River

 


A man died while rafting on the White Salmon River, last week. The Sheriff’s office was notified of the accident around 3:43 p.m. on July 21. The call said that CPR was in progress on a male subject. Upon arrival Klickitat County Deputy Randy Wells was notified that Jeffrey Standish 58 of Chesapeake, Va. had been pronounced dead.

Wells’ investigation found that Standish went overboard and at one point was holding onto the side of the raft while others tried to pull him back into the raft.   Deputy Wells learned that Standish was pulled back into the raft and was given CPR until aid arrived. The Sheriff’s Office was awaiting a report from the coroner at press time.
