A tale of two rivers

 


The two main tributaries of the Columbia River in Klickitat County, the Klickitat River and White Salmon River continue to flow above their record lows, although the White Salmon River is less than 100 cfs of the record.

Fish are still being caught in the rivers and rafting and kayaking continues. The White Salmon gauge is a couple of miles upstream from the mouth of the river, which has a shorter run from source to mouth than that Klickitat , resulting in fewer miles to pick up outside flow.

The Klickitat River has rebounded at times over the past month, reflecting rain in the upper basin. The river also has many springs providing water as snow and ice melt from Mt. Adams and surroundin...
