Cougar defense dominates in 38-36 thriller over Siletz

LOOKING IT IN: Elijah McCullough was focused on the ball, picking up 20 yards on a pass from Gavyn Nelson during Lyle-Wishram's first scoring drive.

Big plays and a stubborn defense gave Lyle-Wishram a 38-36 win over Siletz Valley in the opening game for both teams at the Dufur Classic, Saturday. An 80 yard touchdown pass from Gavyn Nelson to Desean Leslie saved the day for the Cougars who overcame 126 yards in penalties and a wild second half. Brett Rowan lowered his pads and punched it in for the two-point conversion with just 28 seconds left in the game.

There were many big plays in the game that mostly went in Lyle-Wishram's favor, including a snap into the end zone which gave the Cougars a safety and the margin of victory, as each team finished with five touchdowns and three of five conversions. The Warriors dominated the first q...
