The need for the return of the Fourth Estate

 


It was admittedly controversial, to put a huge headline reading “He is risen” under the banner of The Sentinel last week, just before Easter. A lot of people thought it was great; some were indifferent; and a few were very displeased. It’s worth taking a moment to talk about how this happened and what it meant.

Readers will recall that at Christmas The Sentinel ran a classic Christmas prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson and announced we would be closed that Friday to observe the birth of Christ. How unfortunate that an explanation was needed. I, for one, drew encouragement from the front page message in that gave credibility, not bias.
